For expats, most formal employment sits in healthcare, education, and government-adjacent roles — Saudi nationals dominate public sector hiring, so foreign workers typically arrive on sponsored contracts.

A one-bedroom in the city center runs around $450/month, which is reasonable by Saudi standards, though housing quality varies sharply by neighborhood. There's no public transit worth relying on — a car is non-negotiable. Healthcare access is adequate through government hospitals and a handful of private clinics, though complex cases get referred to Riyadh or Jeddah.
