Best countries for digital nomads
About this page
Ranked on nomad visa thresholds, internet speed, monthly costs and local English use.
Only countries with a digital nomad visa are ranked here, and only when remote work is permitted on that visa. The score combines the minimum monthly income the visa requires, average fixed broadband speed, monthly living costs, the size of the local expat community, English proficiency and safety.
Internet figures are fixed-broadband medians, not mobile, because a working connection is what matters. Visa thresholds come from the country record and are converted to dollars at one snapshot rate.
A country that cannot show its threshold or its internet speed is not ranked, which keeps the list honest. Check the visa conditions with the issuing government before you apply, since income rules and remote-work clauses change.
Countries at travel advisory level 3 or 4 are not ranked here.
