With a literacy rate of 89.7%, the city may seem educated, but the reality is that 41.8% of residents live in slums, crammed into a mere 7% of the land. And good luck getting around - the transport system is infamously congested, with commuters spending hours stuck in traffic. As for the weather, Mumbai's tropical climate brings punishing monsoons, with the city recording a staggering 944mm of rainfall in a single day. Bureaucracy is also a persistent headache, with the notoriously corrupt municipal corporation struggling to provide basic services. Unless you're prepared for a daily grind of crowds, pollution, and infrastructure woes, Mumbai may not be the city for you.
