With a population of just 5,955, Bascharage is a sleepy town in Luxembourg that offers little to get excited about. The area has a historical relationship with the iron industry, but the steel crisis of the 1970s led to widespread job losses. Bureaucracy is a persistent headache, as evidenced by the town's merger with the neighboring commune of Clemency in 2012.

While Bascharage is home to Luxembourg's largest brewery, there's not much else to draw new residents. The town lacks the vibrancy and opportunities of Luxembourg City. Unless you're a diehard beer enthusiast content with a slow-paced, small-town lifestyle, Bascharage is probably not the place for you.
