Bengaluru hosts the Indian offices of Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Infosys, Wipro, and hundreds of mid-tier IT firms — over 1,973 companies at last serious count, and that number has only grown. If you work in software engineering, product management, data science, or SaaS sales, the job market is genuinely competitive and salaries for senior roles can reach ₹30–50 lakh annually. Outside tech, aerospace (HAL, ISRO), biotech, and manufacturing provide employment, but the city's economic identity is inseparable from its IT corridor.

A one-bedroom in the city center runs around $450/month; move to Whitefield or Electronic City and you can drop that to $250–300, though you'll pay in commute time — traffic is legitimately brutal and can turn a 10km trip into 90 minutes. The metro is expanding but still incomplete. Healthcare is a genuine strength: Apollo, Manipal, and Fortis hospitals offer world-class care at a fraction of Western prices. The language barrier is real outside tech circles — Kannada is the official language and locals notice if you don't try. Bureaucracy for visa extensions and rental agreements requires patience and often a local fixer.

Bengaluru sits at 900 meters elevation, which keeps temperatures between 15–35°C year-round — genuinely pleasant compared to Chennai or Delhi. The food scene is exceptional: South Indian breakfast culture (masala dosa, filter coffee) is a daily ritual, and the city has serious craft beer bars, international restaurants, and a growing specialty coffee scene. The expat community is large but fragmented — mostly tech workers on assignment rather than long-term settlers. Weekends mean Nandi Hills day trips, Cubbon Park runs, or live music in Indiranagar. This city suits remote tech workers or those with Indian employer sponsorship who want urban infrastructure without Mumbai's chaos.
