It employs most of the 709 residents directly or indirectly, making this a single-industry town with all the fragility that implies. The settlement was purpose-built as a workers' colony, so there's no organic job market to speak of. Remote work or freelancing is your realistic option if you're not poultry-adjacent.

Rent runs roughly $200–350/month for a basic apartment; utilities add another $40–60. The S6 highway connection means you can reach Marneuli or Tbilisi, though buses are infrequent and unreliable. Healthcare is minimal locally—serious issues require travel to regional centers. Georgian is the official language; Russian is widely understood, but English is rare. Bureaucracy is standard Georgian friction: residency permits, tax registration, and banking all require patience and documentation.

Summers hit 35°C (95°F), winters drop below freezing. Food is basic—fresh produce at local markets, limited variety. The expat community is essentially nonexistent; you'd be one of very few foreigners. Weekends mean day trips to Marneuli, hiking near Kolagiri fortress, or driving toward Tbilisi. This place suits only those with a specific reason to be here—factory work, deep family ties, or extreme cost-of-living minimalism.
