With a population of 22,009 as of the 2022 census, Greystones is the second largest town in County Wicklow, after Bray. While the town has seen rapid growth in recent decades, driven by large housing developments, the bureaucracy around new construction projects remains a persistent headache. Coastal erosion is also a major issue, with the loss of fields and homes on the North Beach Road. Still, Greystones offers an appealing combination of seaside living and easy access to Dublin, making it a popular choice for affluent commuters.
