This is not a retirement city; it's a working city, and the economy reflects that.

A one-bedroom in the city center runs around $450/month; go 20 minutes out to Wakad or Baner and you're closer to $250–$300. Private healthcare at reputable hospitals like Ruby Hall or Jehangir is genuinely good and cheap by Western standards — a specialist consultation costs $10–20. The language barrier is lower than most Indian cities; English is widely used in professional settings, though Marathi dominates daily life and bureaucracy.
