With a population of just 36,680, Zhiping is a small, sleepy backwater that offers little to recommend it for most foreigners. The city's lone claim to fame is Liang Zhiping, a legal scholar who has held visiting positions at prestigious universities, but his academic work seems to be the extent of Zhiping's cultural output. Beyond that, the text indicates the city suffers from persistent bureaucratic headaches, which can make everyday tasks a slog for outsiders. Unless you're deeply invested in Chinese legal academia, there's little reason for the average expat to consider setting up shop in this forgettable provincial town.
