With a population of just 51,820, Weimiao is a sleepy backwater that offers little for the average expat. The city's main claim to fame is that it produced a single semi-professional footballer, Li Weimiao, who played for the Beijing team in the 1970s. Beyond that, bureaucracy appears to be a persistent headache, as evidenced by Li's post-retirement career path of studying at the Beijing Sports University.
