With a population of just 59,323, Huiqu is a small and unremarkable city that lacks the infrastructure and amenities most foreigners expect. The local bureaucracy is a persistent headache, as evidenced by the hacking of government websites by the group Anonymous. While the city may appeal to a certain patriotic segment, the reality on the ground is far from the rosy vision promoted by the "Go and Reclaim the Mainland" propaganda song. For most Americans seeking a new life abroad, Huiqu is unlikely to be an enticing destination.
