With a population of around 46,525, this suburb of Freeport serves primarily as a spring break destination, with the nightlife centered around Count Basie Square. While the resort offerings like the Radisson and UNEXSO dive operation may seem enticing, the reality is that Lucaya is a bureaucratic headache, with layers of red tape for even the simplest tasks. And with tourism as the sole economic driver, you can expect prices to be sky-high and job prospects limited. Unless you're a party-seeking college student or an avid diver, Lucaya is not the Bahamas experience most would-be expats are seeking.
