With a population of just 86,735, Concepción del Uruguay is a small provincial city that offers little to entice most foreigners. The city's main industries are the port, industrial park, and state administration - hardly the cosmopolitan hubs that draw global talent. And while it boasts a rich history as the capital of the former Republic of Entre Ríos, the bureaucratic headaches of dealing with local government are a persistent annoyance. On the plus side, the city is home to four universities, including the prestigious Colegio del Uruguay, making it a regional educational center. But for most expats, the isolation and sleepy vibe of Concepción del Uruguay likely won't outweigh the downsides.
